The Money Minute A Bi-monthly E-Newsletter Helping YOU Make the Most of Your Money July 15 2008 Appreciate the Lazy Hazy Days of Summer ... It Does Affect Your Money! " A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower
is broken." James Dent

Whew, has it been hot
here in Northern California, well into the 100's the last few days! I hate
to complain since I tend to be a hothouse flower, loving warm weather and sunshine. I tell myself on hot days like this that
at least it is not raining! As much as rain is part of the cycle of nature, I find that rain makes me drag and feel lethargic,
so being grateful is the key for me. I work with clients and their money as well, from this very place. We begin with noticing
where they are at and being grateful for those things they already have. I know for myself, gratitude must be in my experience
every moment of the day, otherwise it is like those cloudy, rainy days for me, it brings me down and I then cannot create
from that space! What are you grateful for these days, on these lazy, hazy summer days? Are you only looking at those things that
you do not have, versus being truly grateful for what you do have? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BE

weather! AND

"Dog Days of Summer." What is YOUR focus? I have noticed over the years of helping people
with money that the tendency is to concentrate on what you do not have. It is a fascinating behavior to observe when someone
is so overwhelmed and frustrated by the lack in his or her life. The focus is either entirely on that lack or it is focused
upon the high cost of something they have already purchased that is financially draining. The focus is seldom upon full appreciation
of what is already present. Where is the Appreciation in Not Having What I Want? I can fully understand the desire to want something
and not be able to have it. How frustrating and overwhelming that feeling can be when no matter what you do, you cannot afford
it, achieve it, or buy it. However, it is important for you to know that you can have lack or you can have abundance, but
you can't have them both at the same time! MOREOVER, one is a perception (lack) and the other is truth (abundance). It
is up to you to decide, which do you want, lack or abundance? It is a decision you can make to appreciate what you have right
now, and with this decision comes the very thing you desire. It Couldn't Be That Simple,
Could it?
Yes,
I do believe it is that simple. I know for myself it has happened repeatedly. Yet I also know that when I resist or disbelieve,
the flow stops. Flow does not come in where resistance exists. Just as with a dam that a beaver builds to block the water
from flowing, we do the same with our attitude of lack and belief in not enough. We block the flow before it even has a chance
to appear.
Is
the Universe Truly an Abundant Place? The Universe is an incredibly
abundant place with infinite possibilities available to us.. Only our own beliefs keep us from having that abundance. Beliefs
such as, "I cannot have it," or "I do not deserve it," or possibly that "it is too expensive."
Whatever the reason, we block our abundance every day. We make decisions to buy something with our money that we do not even
truly want, and then bemoan not having the very thing we DID want. Each day, we make decisions, which keep us from our abundance.
I would like to suggest an alternative idea.
What is that Alternative Idea? My idea and suggestion is that you do three basic things: Stop telling the same old story. Not only do you start
to believe it yourself, but also you are telling the Universe that you truly do not want the very thing you desire. "You
need to know that if you want your fortunes to shift, you have to begin telling a different story." (Money & The
Law of Attraction; Jerry & Esther Hicks). You cannot open the floodgate of creativity and ideas with a closed mind. Start telling a new story. In other words, create a new vision and see the possibility of having the very thing that you
want. I suggest that you do this with pictures or words. Whatever helps you see it, whichever is the right approach for you.
I personally love to pull out a magazine and cut out pictures, words, and colors, which depict my very desire. Make
a decision and give yourself no options out. Once you have your new story, your new vision, then decide there is no other
way but having it. Don't allow yourself a Plan B, an out clause in other words. Stop putting your energy, money, time,
or talents on the things you do not want and focus it upon the very thing you desire instead. Remember, it takes the same
amount of energy to say "I can" rather than "I can't!" Bear in mind, your abundance or lack of it in your experience has nothing
to do with what anybody else is doing or having. It has only to do with your perspective. It has only to do with your offering
of thought.
Consider this ... there are many ways to shift your focus from lack to pleasure, from lack to appreciation.
My guest writer this month, Eileen Pardini, suggests a wonderful way to do so by simply taking on the lovely pastime of gazing
at the moon.

SUMMER MOON GAZING By Eileen Pardini Consultant~Mediator~Trainer A wonderful
and long forgotten pastime is the pleasure of summer moon gazing. This delightful diversion is a beautiful way to connect
with nature in silence while alone, or with the company of family, friends, or someone special. The moon represents the mother
or feminine principal. The energy of the moon is intuitive, deep, subtle, feminine, and psychic. It is also associated with
clairvoyance and knowing without thinking. One can begin by setting an intention on the night of the New Moon
or no moon with a simple ceremony. Light some incense and a candle outside and state an intention or aspiration for the lunar
month. Give thanks to her for her brilliance, beauty and guidance. Make an offering to her of a flower or a summer fruit.
Watch her throughout the weeks as she grows in fullness and celebrate the Full Moon and the fruition of your stated intention
or aspiration with a simple feast, drumming, singing, dancing, or silent gratitude. Moon viewing was a much celebrated
tradition with many of our ancestors. Even today the Japanese have moon viewing parties with many aristocratic residences
holding gatherings in special rooms or on platforms, where nobles will gather to write moon-related verse as they gaze at
her in the sky, or her reflection in a nearby pond. The July full moon is called the Buck Moon or
Thunder Moon or Hay Moon and occurs on July 17th. Happy moon gazing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eileen Pardini is a Masters candidate in Consciousness Studies at John F.
