looking for that pot of gold." author unknown  It is at this time of year we begin to think of springtime and St. Patrick's Day. It is fascinating
how this holiday has become so popular with us all, Irish and non-Irish alike. The holiday, after all, was a religious one
celebrating Saint Patrick and entertainingly enough the pubs were all closed on this day. It is, however, a day of feasts
and I do believe we all enjoy embracing the feast-like aspect of the day, bringing to us as well a joyous celebration of springtime.

| How Does St. Patrick's Day Relate to MY Pot of Gold? I believe
that the celebration of St. Patrick's has brought to us many memorable things ... Leprechauns, shamrocks, kissing the
blarney stone, and of course the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. As I was thinking about the feast day of St. Patrick's
it came to mind how many of us are always chasing after the proverbial pot of gold only to realize there is no reachable end
of the rainbow! I repeatedly hear my clients lament about how they seemed to be so on track with their goals and other money
projects and yet they bemoan, "Where, oh where, is my pot of gold?" I believe
that the celebration of St. Patrick's has brought to us many memorable things ... Leprechauns, shamrocks, kissing the

If there is no End of the Rainbow, How will I find
my Pot of Gold?  I am sure that most of us do not expect to run to the end of a rainbow to find a pot of gold, yet amazingly enough, many
of us do expect money to miraculously appear. We get up each day and hi ho.hi ho, it's off to work we go and at the end
of it we most certainly expect to get financial compensation for our time and effort. Yet do we see this as our pot of
gold? Frequently not and in fact usually we take it for granted or assert that it is not enough. That is where the issue
begins, our attitude. Do we have an attitude of gratitude? Or do we see this flow as just another
"ho-hum" day at the office? In spite of that, in order for us to have true prosperity, we must keep a good attitude
and there are two tests in life we must pass with regard to our money.

One is how we act
when we have money and the other is how we act when we do not. What is the difference between the two tests?
Not much! Whether we have it or not our attitude must remain the same. |
What Attitude
are you Speaking of Here?
The attitude
of appreciation. Period. End of sentence. We must appreciate all that we have in the moment because, after all,
this moment is all that we have. Looking to the past, to what we had or did not have, is looking at what is already done and
over. Moreover, looking ahead in the future is just a story we create from the past. It has not happened yet. Whether you
believe it or not, (sorry Dr. Phil) past behavior and results do not determine your future results. All you have
is right now. |
And if I pass the tests?
"Many of us would like more of God's anointing in our lives" (Joyce
Meyer, "Enjoying Everyday Life" March 2008) It is a delight to discover that how we manage our money and the attitude
in which we treat it is how we increase and sustain it. That which the divine has given us, along with other resources,
must be cherished, honored, and appreciated to keep them in the now. |
How does this relate to financial counseling?  Last year I celebrated my 10th year as a financial
counselor and over those 10 years, I have noticed my own growth with money matters. In the beginning stages, I thought that
what most clients wanted was the logistics of money. Stick to the facts ma'am! Yet something was missing for
me in that process, as it was for those with whom I advised. For me it was the deep connection to spirit, and how it relates
to money, that was missing. Once I began incorporating this in my own day-to-day life as well as bringing it to my money sessions
with clients, things began to happen. For me and for my clients. Sharing the ways we can be present to our divine inheritance,
our divine right, is joyous to me and I desire to share this with you. That is the true pot
of gold at the end of the rainbow! |

"Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls" Joseph Campbell  Wouldn't it be lovely to live in bliss? This idea, of living in bliss, came to me as I paged through a local
magazine and saw those captivating words, It had me wondering how bliss would apply to money matters. I am sure it does, since
most of us would love to feel blissful about our money . . . although most of us don't!

| | HOW
CAN I FEEL BLISSFUL ABOUT MY MONEY? There are two basic things I believe you must embrace to
feel blissful about your money. The first would be to honor your humanness and the second would be to silence the self-critical
voice in your head. |
HOW WOULD I DO THIS? There
are probably many ways in which you could approach both of these aspects of yourself, however, I will suggest that which I
use in my counseling sessions with clients as well as personally. Most of us have some deep inner sadness, regrets, or fears
that surround our money and yet dwelling upon them only keeps them with you. That which you think about, put energy to, and
focus upon, continues and becomes ongoing! So, the first way to deal with your humanness of wanting to hang on is "to
forgive yourself and let it go." Sounds quite simple doesn't it? It is. We just have to make the decision that we are going to let go. . . and do it! |
SIMPLE? ARE YOU KIDDING?  In reality, I do realize that letting go of the past is quite challenging but it is the very thing we must do to have
success with our money. Yes, we can learn from our past, especially our mistakes, yet that is as far as carrying that heavy
load of guilt needs to go. Use that wonderful, heavenly guidance (your mistakes), learn from them and move on. Accept and
honor this guidance and without resistance know that it is not the truth of who you are, then let it flow through you. We
are meant to make mistakes, learn by them, and keep going. That is what life is all about. That is the essence of our humanity. In reality, I do realize that letting go of the past is quite challenging but it is the very thing we must do to have
success with our money. Yes, we can learn from our past, especially our mistakes, yet that is as far as carrying that heavy
load of guilt needs to go. Use that wonderful, heavenly guidance (your mistakes), learn from them and move on. Accept and

WHAT ABOUT THE VOICE IN MY HEAD?
Silencing that critical voice in our heads
is where our real work begins. Of course we must first recognize this critical voice before we can even begin to silence it.
Our true selves are not critical, only our "egoic mind" (as Eckhart Tolle calls it) is! It talks back and just emphasizes
all our wrong-doings and when asked to be quiet, it talks louder and is more insistent. That is because we usually ask for
it to be quiet with resistance within us. As you know, that which you resist, persists! My suggestion is to just notice it,
and let it go. |
LET IT GO? IT'S
NOT THAT EASY! I agree with you, no it is
not that easy. However, in order for you to find bliss you must let it go. Find ways to put your attention elsewhere. As I
was suggesting to a friend yesterday, focus upon your heart. Ask yourself, "Is it beating?" The very aspect of doing
so brings you away from the voice and into your loving heart. |
AND THIS WILL BRING ME
TO BLISS?  I cannot guarantee bliss for anyone. Only you can make the commitment to having it. Make a decision today
that bliss is all there is and you will accept nothing less. I CAN guarantee that it will affect your
money. Whether you are in bliss or not, your money knows it! Your money picture will either be in bliss or it will not, it
is all up to you. |
